Staff/Event Photographer

Under the supervision of the Marketing Director and other Marketing Supervisors, provides photographic support primarily for the 374 Force Support Squadron. Attends major FSS events and may also cover base-wide events and other specialized functions to provide photographic support as required. Photographs must render a clear and realistic representation of specific items, features, and/or events, and must capture images which present and aesthetically pleasing visual product attracting viewer attention and creating favorable impressions and/or elicit certain sought after responses. Operates a variety of standard (point and click) digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and specialized photographic camera equipment. Uses digital cameras along with conventional lenses, accessories, electronic strobe lights, etc. Designs and plans photographic coverage of projects, events, or activities. Takes staged or candid shots of personnel, equipment, work operations, and completes other assignments. Based on familiarity with subject matter and content, discusses general requirements of the subject matter to be photographed. Analyzes requests for photographic coverage and determines amount and type of equipment to achieve desired results. Based on requirements, selects appropriate cameras, lights, lenses, angles, views, and exposures required to properly and professionally photograph under various conditions such as indoors, outdoors, confined spaces, spacious areas, natural lighting, fluorescent lighting, or night shoots, thus achieving aesthetically pleasing results. Properly selects, saves, and categorizes all images according to established departmental system in a timely manner. Uses computer-based imaging programs to crop, retouch, balance contrast, and enhance images to produce final photographic products that can be used in professional advertisements. Assembles and transports equipment to work sites making advance arrangement for admission to restricted areas and off-base sites. Performs a variety of operator maintenance and care on all cameras and accessories. Must keep detailed records of hours spent at each assignment location, editing photos, and uploading data. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein or as assigned by the first level supervisor.

  • Conduct photoshoots for a range of assignments including events, portraits, products, and ceremonies.

  • Edit and retouch photos to ensure high-quality final products.

  • Collaborate with Facility Managers to understand their vision and deliver on their photography needs.

  • Manage photo shoots from planning to execution, ensuring all requirements are met.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and techniques to enhance photography skills.
